“I cannot remember a time when I did not draw and paint. It has been something that I have always felt the need to do and which I have always been interested in.
Getting out and about sketching is something I really enjoy; consequently much of my work has a root in my sketchbooks although I may not immediately intend to transform these sketches into paintings.
Cornwall has been my home for almost fifty years and continues to provide me with most of my subject matter. Besides the sea and countryside I enjoy trying to capture the body language and humour in the day-to-day lives of both locals and holidaymakers. Many people have commented that my work is ‘quirky’, an observation I am completely comfortable with.
Sketchbooks aside, I mainly work in watercolour and acrylic and occasionally oils on various surfaces.”
