I work in polymer clay and acrylics to create figurative, three-dimensional scenes on canvas board. I enjoy the humour, colour and movement that creating the figures in clay brings to subjects and this contrasts with the more studied approach of the background painting. Inspirations are firmly rooted in everyday life – the joy is in creating a painting that celebrates the familiar in a new way.
I trained in Fashion illustration and journalism in the 80s at Epsom School of Art & Design (as it was called then) and have been a member of the Association of Illustrators for many years. Having worked for many years as a graphic designer, I gave up the day job to became a full-time artist about twelve years ago. I now show my work in a number of galleries across the UK and undertake a number of private commissions every year. My designs appear on several ranges of greetings cards published in the UK by Holy Mackerel Ltd.
