Geraldine Williamson Back

I like to paint colourful, happy paintings in acrylic, usually still life with birds, flowers and fruit and a backdrop of rolling hills or turquoise seas and rows of fishermen’s cottages and stripey lighthouses.

I come from a long line of artists and explorers and spent many years working and travelling around the World on various expeditions, always with a sketchbook in my rucksack! I then spend 10 years working in BBC TV and Radio before following my dream of becoming an artist, studying at Chelsea College of Art and Design, London (specialising in Textile Design) and many courses at the St Ives School of Painting in Cornwall.

I live in the beautiful West Country near the sea. I paint whenever I can and have exhibited in many galleries around the UK and around the World including in the World Trade Centre in Bogota, Colombia; Paris and Macon, France; Katowice, Poland; Berlin, Germany and Bruges, Belgium. I have painted for as long as I can remember and have my own “Art Shed” in the garden where I can spend many happy hours painting uninterrupted – away from computers and phones!

I am a member of ABNA (Association of British Naïve Artists) and some of my work is included in the ABNA book.
