I am a textile artist based in Plymouth. I create my unique designs by sewing recycled fabrics onto discarded admiralty sea charts. My designs feature marine wildlife, and the history, customs and culture of our beautiful coast. The charts bring their own history to the piece, and any scars or blemishes they carry attest to their previous life. I love to use the charts to reflect that these same waters and coastlines were seen by our fore fathers and our iconic explorers as they left our shores.
I have no formal art training, and my art comes from a lifetime of loving the coasts and from a long history of all types of needlework. I have been creating my art in this form for around 3 years now, and show my work in Kaya Gallery in Plymouth, as well as in my own studio in Mount Batten, Plymouth.
