Jackie Gale is a textile artist whose colourful and vibrant work reflects the energy and creativity of her character. Influenced by her passion for naive art,Jackie tells the story with texture. Her ability to capture the essence of a place or theme using layers of fabrics makes her work truly unique. She uses anything from felt to vintage maps, crushed velvet to walnut veneer. Each piece is full of engaging detail, rich in texture and has a wonderful multi-dimensional quality.
Inspiration comes from a number of sources including her travels around the world, love of architecture and wild flora. She firmly believes, however, that inspiration is all around us. The challenge of portraying the ordinary especially fires her imagination.
Although self taught, Jackie grew up in a creative household where she was surrounded by oil painting, dressmaking and a workshop full of craft projects. Despite exploring other mediums, textiles are her true passion. Since turning professional three years ago, she has exhibited across the UK and attracted both national and international interest in her work. Her artistic talent was nationally recognised in 2015 when she was awarded ‘Best Up and Coming Artist ‘ by the Fine Art Trade Guild.
