Joan Swain Back

After a career in the Civil Service, I rediscovered my interest in painting and I have been an amateur artist for about twenty years. I have had some selling success at local exhibitions painting semi-abstract landscapes in acrylic.

However, during the pandemic I have turned my attention to colourful naïve art and I am hooked!

I work on small block canvasses in bright oils depicting whimsical country scenes. I love the vibrancy of oil colour straight from the tube.

Canvasses are 20 x 20 or 30 x 30 cm and 3.5 cm deep. I paint the sides as part of the scene so the work requires no frame.

I am a member of Sandbach Art Club in Cheshire where there is a membership of fifty plus. We have two exhibitions each year and also show at Rode Hall during the Spring Snowdrop Walks.
