Julie grew up in the West Country. She moved to Kent and trained as a primary school teacher and discovered that her love of art helped to bridge a gap in children’s learning and really motivated them.
She lives in Downalong one of the oldest parts of St. Ives in Cornwall and it is surrounded by the sea which provides the inspiration for her work. She aims to capture some of the wonderful seascapes and pastel tones of Cornwall in her 3-D painted porcelain pictures. She uses porcelain clay as its delicate nature is ideal for her work. Her pictures, bowls and platters are decorated with cottages, harbours, fishing boats and the sea, her work reflects her deep regard and love for Cornwall. Each piece of work is totally individual and a one off.
