My version of ‘Thumbprint Art’ evolved from a love of water colour painting and my long interest in delineating character and health from patterns on palms and fingertips. The oval in many of the pictures represents the outline of the thumbprint. The images are painted in the shape of particular thumbprints. This accounts for their fluidity and quirkiness.
Most of my pictures are of villages and towns. I enjoy the challenge of depicting the essence of a place in a thumbprint, painting the particular architecture and things of interest, and adding life in the form of people, dogs and various vehicles. You will see Rosie the Springer Spaniel and Indie the white/orange Collie in several.
