Sue was born and still lives in South Wales. She studied graphic design at art college and spent some years as a part time illustrator of Welsh children’s books. She has also written and published several pre-school children’s short stories.
She taught art for thirty years to children and adults.
She has won two Welsh open art competitions and exhibits at a number of Welsh galleries. Now retired Sue has time to concentrate on her own work which is small and intimate in scale. Her themes are simple sea and landscapes, children and animals, the latter being a particular possion.
Although acrylics are her favourite painting medium, Sue is equally comfortable with the graphic qualities of ink pen, quills and watercolour wash.
Her naïve style is based on imagination and memory rather than first hand observations. Children’s art has alwahys been a big influence on Sue’s style.
