Grassmarket, Edinburgh
Oil on Canvas 25 x 40 cm
The Grassmarket is a very lively part of the medieval Old Town of Edinburgh, very well-liked by locals and tourists. This painting is special for me as it was one of my first commissions and reassured me that my paintings could be sellable.
About
I was born in Málaga (Spain) but moved to Edinburgh more than 30 years ago.
I always loved art and enjoyed painting. I have now retired after a career in Science and, finally, have the time to paint.
I’m determined to get better and have become addicted to spend time on my own with my paints and brushes. Mainly self-taught, I attended a several short courses at Leith School of Art.
My favourite media is oil and usually paint on canvas. I don’t mind the slow drying of oils as it gives me the chance to mix colours in situ. I enjoy adding layers and lots of details. I paint my subjects as I see them but like enhancing the colours to create attractive images.
I find my inspiration in my surroundings and usually paint familiar locations of my daily life. I’m lucky enough to live in Edinburgh, which provides amazing cityscapes. Also lucky to visit Andalusia regularly to visit family and friends. Andalusian white villages are one of my favourite and recurrent subjects.

The Shore, Leith
Oil on canvas. 60 x 30cm
Leith is a very cool neighbourhood of Edinburgh; it’s becoming very fashionable. The Shore is especially picturesque. This is one of my favourite paintings. The original is hanging on my house, but it’s my best-selling print.
Salares
Oil on Canvas 30 x 40cm
Salares, with a population of 192, is the smallest village in Malaga province. Worthwhile a visit with it’s Mudejar church, medieval bridge and other artistic treasures.
Algodonales
Oil on Canvas 30 x 40cm
My beloved Andalucia always in my heart. I love painting it’s white villages. My brother lives in Algodonales (Cadiz province). A very popular spot for paragliders all over Europe.
The Clock Tower, Leith
Oil on Canvas A3 size
I have always admired this building in Leith. It’s very well loved by the locals. I painted it with enthusiasm and hoping to depict this beautiful landmark with justice.
Newhaven Lighthouse
Oil on canvas 25 x 30 cm.
Newhaven Harbour is one of my favourites locations, just 10 minute walk from my house. I have painted the lighthouse in a few occasions but so have other artists, it’s a popular subject.
New Town, Edinburgh
Oil on textured linen paper 30 x 30 cm
Edinburgh New Town built in the 18th century with a distinctive Neoclassical style is very well preserved. I love walking it’s streets, the architecture is really impressive.
The Mound at Christmas
Oil on Canvas 25 x 32cm
Every year for Christmas, Norway sends Edinburgh a fabulous tree. This is a gift of gratitude for the help Scotland gave them during the war. And every year, it is placed on the Mound dominating the city.
